CFR provided MEP Engineering design services for Capital Digestive Care's newest office space in Rockville, MD. This 12,540 SF fit-out included plumbing design for new exam room sinks, new patient and staff restrooms, and a break room. CFR also provided low voltage design for a new nurse call system, location tracking system, and an IT room with backup UPS system, dedicated cooling and cable tray location.

This project included providing project management, MEP, structural engineering, architectural design services and cost estimating services for installation support alteration associated with the removal of an existing, Government owned Varian Clinac 21EX accelerator and the alteration, removal and installation of facilities necessary for the installation of a Varian TruBeam STX radiotherapy accelerator in its place. Services also included installation support alteration of room B2-3650, approximately 2,100 SF, room B2-3660, approximately 200 SF, and related area of clinical and support space.

A new 2,500 SF Family Dentistry practice specializes in the treatment of both adults and children. An underwater theme was expressed in the curved forms of the defining walls and ceilings, the privacy film on the glass partitions, the carved sea-pod panels throughout the space. White floors and walls contrast with the deep blue to create a dazzling effect. The reception area video wall of moving water sets the tone, while graphics, signage and website complete the branding of the practice.

CFR provided MEP engineering design and construction administration services for the renovation to convert two (2) inpatient rooms and associated support spaces into two (2) inpatient hospice suites within the CRC. Each suite was renovated to consist of a patient bedroom with a family sitting area, family support room, a lavatory and a shower room. Design included modifications to the HVAC, plumbing, power, lighting, and fire alarm systems. The facilities were designed to facilitate interactions between scientists, support staff, patients and patient families. Each suite was designed to resemble a home or hotel room in furnishings and amenities with hospital fixtures and equipment to help foster a sense of comfort.

This project consisted of MEP engineering design services for the renovation of approximately 6,500 square feet, to include a Bariatric Clinic incorporating offices, toilet rooms, nurses rooms, and a minor procedure room. Scope of work included site surveys of existing MEP systems for verification of sufficient adequate performance with new design.

CFR provided MEP engineering design services for the renovation of approximately 9,182 SF of medical office space and egress corridors. The space is divided among Nexus Health Urgent Care space, admin space, and shared amenities space. The Nexus Health Urgent Care Suite renovations included a vestibule, an adult waiting area, a pediatrics waiting area, a reception area, eight (8) exam rooms and two (2) pediatric exam rooms with sinks, among many other specialty exam rooms. The admin suite included four (4) private offices, one (1) supply closet, and a printer/copy work area. Renovations for the shared amenities space included two (2) ADA staff restrooms, an IT serve/tele room, a large conference room, and a staff break room with sink. HVAC design included one (1) air handling unit dedicated to the x-ray room and six (6) rooftop units to serve the new space. CFR also designed a new emergency generator on the roof of the building, as well as new water, gas, and power utility services.

CFR provided MEP engineering design services for the renovation of approximately 2,000 SF of existing space at the Gaithersburg, MD Ambulatory Surgery Center. Renovations include one (1) new procedure room, two (2) prep/recovery spaces and a small expansion of the ASC waiting room, ~815 SF in total. In addition, upgrades to the existing prep/recovery space (#13) to include medical gases for full service prep/recovery are required. Renovations also include ~1,115 SF of space for the Perioperative Evaluation and Education Clinic (PEEC) to include two (2) new exam rooms, work spaces for seven (7) staff members, support space, and storage space for ASC.

CFR provided MEP engineering design services for the expansion of Providence Hospital in Washington DC to accommodate their growing imaging practice. The expansion houses an existing, relocated MRI and a new open MRI, the first to be installed in DC. The open MRI is allowing the hospital to provide better service to their bariatric patients. The new construction project included new air handling units, medical gas, process chillers, in-row computer room air conditioning units and new energy efficient lighting fixtures. BIM was implemented by all trades and routinely coordinated to avoid any clashes and ensure a smooth construction phase.
